Outputs and Outcomes
New study shows that charities are good at saying what they do but struggle to communicate the difference they make to peoples lives
A recent study by New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) called “Talking About Results” has revealed that charities are far more able at explaining what they do (Outputs) than they are at explaining how these activities impact on their beneficiaries and change lives for the better (Outcomes).
Many charities are therefore missing a trick when it comes to attracting supporters and donors. Charity Fundraising Ltd is keen to stress the need for charities to explain not just what they do but what difference this makes. Effectively explaining the impact of your work can make all the difference in convincing a funder that your project is worthy of a grant. Funders receive more and more applications from charities in need of grant funding and being able to successfully explain the impact of your work is a crucial part of the bid writing process.
Our team of consultants are always happy to discuss how we can work with charities to refine monitoring systems and/or refocus how outcomes are demonstrated to maximise the chances of funding applications and tenders achieving success.
