Grant Success for Pro Corda Trust
Fundraising Consultants at Charity Fundraising Ltd have secured £29,700 funding from Youth Music, towards personal development courses for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
'Performing Arts & Life Skills through Ensemble Training' is a unique and innovative course designed to progress the communication and social skills of children with a range of difficult and complex needs, including children; with autism; from deprived or difficult backgrounds; with other communication or social difficulties; with a range of disabilities; making the difficult transition from a Special Educational Needs environment to open society.
These children experience exclusion and isolation: their difficulties with communication, self-awareness, confidence and self esteem prevent them from participating in normal childhood activities, including the many after-school activities that more fortunate children take for granted.
This latest grant for our client charity brings the total grants raised to date by Fundraising Consultants at Charity Fundraising Ltd to more than £60,000. We are also working hard to help Pro Corda raise the profile of the charity in the local community and to local business, including promotion of facilities available for hire at the unique and beautiful English Heritage site of Leiston Abbey(dating from 1363), on the Suffolk Coast.
Other areas of fundraising for Pro Corda include bursary funding, outreach work to local schools, and the Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival 2008.
Pro Corda develops projects in direct response to the needs of schools. There is a significant gap in provision of music education for children with Special Educational needs, and our course was devised in conjunction with County Council SEN Co-ordinators, and Local Education Authorities.
The Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival is planned to fill the gap left by the demise the Chamber Music For Schools Competition, which ran for 27 years. The festival will deliver the following outcomes:
- supersede the Chamber Music Competition for Schools
- provide young musicians with an opportunity to gain concert, performance and important competition experience
- create a social forum for young chamber musicians
- provide an opportunity for talented new ensembles to emerge
- enable the identification and nurturing of young musical talent
- encourage young people to participate in or attend more classical music events and concerts
- encourage more young people to learn a musical instrument
- raise awareness of classical music within schools
- increase opportunities for school children to access to classical music performances
