Giving Green Paper
Giving Green Paper
The Government has recently published a Giving Green Paper which includes initial ideas on how to build a stronger attitude towards philanthropy in our society and to more generally spark debate about our attitudes to how and why we give our time and money to charitable causes.
The Giving Green Paper includes a number of essays by some respected experts covering a variety of topics including the role of technology in giving, venture philanthropy, and how giving improves personal well-being. It also suggests that government should act as a facilitator, making it simpler for philanthropists, volunteers and charities to partner with one another.
Francis Maude (Minister for the Cabinet Office), said, “This Green Paper offers practical common sense ways we can boost charitable giving”.
The paper is currently open to consultation and the Government is encouraging people to get in touch and express their views about how to encourage giving.
